Summer is approaching fast and RV shows are in full swing. RV dealers are ready and willing to help potential RV buyers with large inventories and incredible deals.
RV shows are reporting an increase in attendance by 20% compared to 2010. One big advantage this year is RV dealers have stocked their inventories and are ready for business. In 2010 RV dealers were having problems securing financing to buy inventory and customers did not have much to choose from.
Another positive sign is RV dealers are spending advertising dollars again. As expected, budgets were tight last year but many dealers are placing ads in newspapers and promoting their products on cable and T.V.
The RV Dealer’s Association estimates families using a travel trailer or fifth wheel will save between 30% and 50% on a typical family vacation. Family benefits from RV usage paired with current industry indicators, such as record sales trends, making it now the ideal time to own a RV.
Mike Thompson’s RV Superstore located in southern California is expecting a 20% sales increase for 2011 and anticipates even stronger growth in 2012. This is exciting news for RV buyers because most dealers are going into this year with a completely different outlook compared to the last couple of years.
All across the board RV dealers are reporting increase sales numbers and larger inventories. One reason for this is many dealers closed their doors and went out of business in the last few years. This has been a good thing according to Mr. Eaton, owner of JR Consumer Resources. “While nobody wants to see a business close and layoff people a correction was needed in the industry. The industry also saw quite a number of RV manufacturers go out of business. But in the end this has produced a stronger and more healthy industry”, according to Mr. Eaton.
In addition to stronger sales and larger crowds visiting RV dealers in North American, the industry is also trying to keep pace with technology by introducing innovative material and devices. RV’s are more aerodynamic, lighter and more efficient than ever before. With high gas prices hitting $5.00 per gallon in 2008 the industry needed to make some big changes. Now, RV companies are building motorhomes that are less expensive and more fuel efficient.
