For many families taking a vacation gets to be overwhelming, they end up spending a ton of money on things that they didn't intend to, they end up unhappy with the trip because of the high cost. In most cases some of the costs involved are those for hotel stays or air fare. Many think that by saving a day or so in travel will keep them less stressful, but in most cases it doesn't.

If you plan on taking a vacation and are unsure about how to go about it, why not plan to take a historical journey across the United States. You can do it by renting an RV for your family to use. The cost is cheaper in most cases than renting a hotel, even if the hotel is on the low end.
Most cities have a place that rents RV's it may take some time but, you are sure to find one, if you call a place that sells the R.V.s they may either rent themselves or know where you can. So this would be the best place to start. Now that you have done this, its time to save on the rest of your trip.

A lot of us, will eat out most of the time while on vacation, but again, this does get rather expensive. Well, if you rent an RV you don't have to worry about this. Simply purchase the groceries you will need while you are away. You can plan out your meals, make sure to include many that don't require a lot of meats. This will help keep you from trying to pack to much into the small freezers that tend to be in the RV You can have fresh cooked meals and be able to spend time with your family planning out the next day of adventures or quite possibly even talk about what happened during the day.

You have sleeping quarters for everyone, so no need for a motel, there is ample storage for all of your belongings, so you don't need to worry about luggage. You can assign everyone a specific place for their clothing etc.
