Travel Trailers

Among the many Recreational Vehicles (RVs), travel trailers are the most popular. Engineered for towing by a car, mini-van, pickup truck, or an SUV, they provide all the comforts of home for weekend outings, vacations, camping activities, or full-time RV travel.

Travel trailers come in a variety of sizes, ranging from a small bedroom on wheels to the equivalent of a Class A motorhome without the engine or transmission. Many units feature slideouts to quickly extend the unit's living space. The ease of towing, combined with their relatively low purchase price, makes them an excellent first choice among RV buyers.

Travel trailer lengths usually range from 12 feet to about 40 feet. Those that are below eighteen feet in length are often called small travel trailers our light weight travel trailers.

Light weight trailers may weigh less than 1,500 pounds and can be pulled with a wide selection of compact vehicles such as SUV’s or small trucks. Small travel trailers will typically not weigh more than 3,000 pounds.

Travel trailers of 18 to 25 feet in length are classified as mid-range travel trailers. These travel trailers usually weigh 5,000 pounds or more and are designed to be towed by V8-powered trucks and SUVs.

Those travel trailers that measure more than 25 feet in length are called large travel trailers. These are often the most luxurious, equipped with amenities that make them look like moving condominiums. Large travel trailers can weigh up to 12,000 pounds and usually need a heavy-duty SUV or a large truck to pull them. These RVs can also carry the greatest number of persons, ranging from eight to ten.
