Motorhome Comparison Guide (Factory Specific)

Motorhome Buyers Guide

Our Motorhome Comparison Guide rates all the major motorhome companies in North America from 2006-2013 that build; Class A Motorhomes, Class C Motorhomes, Class B+ & Class B Motorhomes.

We believe you need to know the truth bout how RV manufacturers compare to each other first before you head out the door to look for a motorhome. This eliminates confusion, frustration and allows buyers to focus on TOP-RATED manufacturers that produce quality products.

There are a number of motorhome websites that claim to provide motorhome reviews or ratings, yet they offer little more than basic specifications that can be found on most RV Manufacturers websites. Some websites provide RV articles that have been written to promote one brand or model, but they provide no real ratings or valuations.

VideoInstead of settling for basic information our guide provides detailed information, not only in the form of rating charts, but valuable factory reviews, construction diagrams and proven motorhome buying tips which is the result of years of research and countless interviews.

Many buyers start at the dealer level when shopping for motor home and fall in love with a particular model or floorplan and then try to figure out if they made a good choice. This is the wrong approach and usually leads to a bad buying decision. Start at the factory level and learn which companies deserve your business and which manufacturers are out performing their competitors in factory support, customer satisfaction and overall quality of product.

Special Note: Our Motorhome Comparison Guide is only offered through our company owned websites which are; JRConsumer.com, RVReviews.net & ClassBMotorhomesGuide.com & LightWeightTrailer.net. Our publication can be purchased as an E-book (PDF) or a Printed Copy (FREE SHIPPING – Except Internationally).

We Now Rate Class B & B+ Manufacturers

Class B MotorhomesRegarding Class B and B+ manufacturers, in the past we did not rate this classification of RVs. But over time we have received numerous emails from RV buyers asking us to include this category in our rating guide. Because of high gas prices and the cost factor of purchasing a larger motorhome the popularity of Class B’s has risen sharply and manufacturers are starting to produce more of these types of units to meet the growing demand.

This segment of the RV industry has increased by 25% in recent years and we at JR Consumer Resources decided to include this classification. It has taken us over a year to gather data on Class B motorhomes and put forth what we believe to be fair and honest ratings for most of the Class B manufacturers in North America. We only provide ratings for Class B Manufacturers from model years 2010-2013. All other classifications, Class A & C manufacturer ratings are provided for model years starting 2006 through 2013.

Motorhome Construction Methods & Techniques

Motorhome ChassisHaving a set of construction standards that properly reflect a structurally sound motorhome is important and helps eliminates any confusion when trying to determine the quality of a particular brand or model.

A crucial component for choosing a Class A, B or C motorhome is how well a motorhome is constructed. In Chapter 2 of our book we cover important aspects of construction such as; chassis, frames, exterior wall construction, insulation types, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, windows and roofing materials. We also discuss the pros and cons associated with diesel and gas engines and much more.

Motorhome ConstructionAs we conducted our research for this chapter we discovered that most RV salespeople did not know much about the overall construction methods of the product they were selling. This bothered us and it made our staff at J R Consumer Resources look deeper into the industry to see how much those at the top knew about construction techniques. Surprisingly, most in upper management were also somewhat hesitant in explaining which construction techniques were best and what to look for in a quality built motorhome. We were beginning to think we would never finish this chapter until we decided to contact individual plant managers to see if they could shed some light on the subject. To our surprise, many plant managers were delighted to speak with us and they had the technical knowledge we were looking for.

Over 42 Different RV Manufacturers Rated

Class C motorhomesOur best-selling Motorhome Comparison Guide rates over 42 popular manufacturers in North America. Each article provides important information with helpful facts and insight about each company. Our goal is to give you a brief description or, “Snap Shot” of each RV Company based on interviews and research collected over the years. This gives you some insight into how each manufacturer got its start and the main focus or direction the company is heading.

Knowing which factories receive TOP-RATINGS allows buyers to focus on quality companies that meet their travel needs. It also eliminates confusion and frustration buyers experience when trying to figure out which company they can trust. This information in not available anywhere else and has taken us years to collect.

Our motorhome book focuses on Class A, Class C and Class B and B+ manufacturers. Overall the RV industry has been open to speaking with me and my research team. As expected, a few companies declined to speak with us but most welcomed the chance to get their information out. Each article contains information in these key areas:

        • Company background and history
        • Principle target customer
        • List of best-selling models
        • Company’s main competitors
        • Average MSRP of best-selling models
        • Financial stability of RV manufacturer
        • Eight-year rating chart showing how each manufacturer performed (This chart is important and shows if company is trending upward or downward in quality, customer satisfaction, factory support and overall resale value of models)
        • Unbiased comments from research staff

Motorhome Factory Rating Charts

Travel Trailer Rating ChartOur staff rates each RV manufacturer, based on: Quality of Construction, Customer Satisfaction, Data collected from RV Dealers and Resale Values from the NADA Guide. We arrive at our conclusions by speaking with previous owners, attending various RV shows and conducting detailed research.

Within each category, a manufacturer receives a rating based on the research and data collected. Each category has a possible 25 points, 100 points being a perfect score.

Having rating charts from 2006 - 2013 at your fingertips allows you to see how each factory performed during those years. One big clue is to look for trends over multiple years to see if a particular motorhome manufacturer is trending upwards or down in quality, customer satisfaction, dealer ratings & resale value.

Buying a Motorhome with Confidence & Peace of Mind

If you have never attended a large RV show or visited a mega RV dealer you are in for a big surprise. The first thing you’ll notice right off is, “There are so many choices, where do I begin?” Did you know this is the number one reason why people put off buying a motorhome. They are overwhelmed with all the choices and become frustrated; don’t let this happen to you!

The second biggest reason people decide not to buy an RV is that they don’t know who they can trust. It’s not uncommon to hear your RV salesperson say something like, “This manufacturer builds the best models". After you have visited a number of dealers it’s like a broken record. Everybody thinks their brands are the best in the industry. Our best-selling motorhome guide cuts through the maze of confusion and sheds light on which RV manufacturers receive top ratings.

We recommend reading our Motorhome Guide first to learn which RV manufacturer's rate best. At this point you will have narrowed your search down to a few motorhomes and now you're ready to request your first RV Report.

To request your RV Report you will need to fill out a simple RV FORM on our website, which ask for make, model, year and length of unit you're interested in. Once we receive your information we will process your request and send your RV report(s) to your email address provided on the RV Form. Each report contains 7 to 8 pages of detailed ratings and wholesale and retail values for that particular model. All reports are sent as a Word Document and you can save each report to your computer or print report(s) using your printer.

Each RV Report is Broken Down into Three Parts:

Part 1: Intended Use

intended use rvEach report focuses on Intended Use. There are four main categories most RV models will fall into. They are: Weekend use, Vacationer, Snowbird and Full-Time use.

Based on the standard options, overall quality, and data collected from various RV sources, we can accurately determine the overall intended use of a particular model. If your intention is to use your RV for short trips, for example, you probably do not need a model that was designed for full-time use.

Part 2: Comprehensive Ratings

RV Rating ChartThe manner in which a particular motorhome performs in the areas of: Quality of Construction, Reliability, Payload, Driveability, Customer Satisfaction, Style and Resale Value will ultimately determine the overall satisfaction level of the unit.

When rating a particular model, our staff has spoken with RV owners, attended various RV shows and interviewed most of the RV manufacturers in North America. We have also collected data from RV websites, forums/blogs, customer survey polls and RV related organizations.

Part 3: 15-Year Depreciation Chart (Invoice/Wholesale Values)

RV Bluebook ValuesThis section of the report is very popular with our customers. We have spent many years researching the wholesale and retail values for many different recreational vehicles. All buyers want to know what the actual wholesale and retail values are for the RV model they are getting ready to purchase.

Based on our research and statistics from the NADA Guides (Dealers Version) and other resources, we have produced a 15-year depreciation chart that we believe properly reflects wholesale and retail value. For new models we will show dealers invoice and pre-owned models the wholesale value.
