Damon Corporation is now a product of Thor Motor Coach, the result of the 2010 merger and purchase by Thor, Industries of Four Winds International, Damon Motor Coach, and Mandalay RV. All information and products once manufactured by Damon Corp. are now directed to the Thor Motor Coach manufacturing company. This includes the website and contact information. Though Thor Motor Coach is a relatively new name to the industry, its parent company, Thor Industries has been around for decades.
Jerimiah Borkowski, Director of Thor Communications, tells us the merger went especially smoothly because the facilities were right next to each other, and it resulted in a strong Class B product (Four Winds International), with a strong diesel and Class A product (Damon). Jerimiah points out; with these mergers Thor is connecting the dots to become a better product line and offer more services. Thor Motor Coach manufactures both gas and diesel Class A and C, and Class B+ motorhomes, in several different product lines and floorplans. You can even work with Thor Motor Coach and design your own motor coach.
Last year Thor Industries had announced their “Concierge Connection”…which is a personal service advocate for Thor owners. Concierge Connection offers new retail owners of any Damon motorhome a personal service advocate who is responsible for facilitating any service needs. Within days of your purchase the Concierge Connection is made, offering assistance for warranty and retail registrations, assistance with the motorhome operation, follow-up phone calls… all welcoming you to the “Thor Motorhome Family”.
Thor Motor Coach also introduced a new 2012 34SS Thor Damon Daybreak floor plan with an innovative exterior kitchen. Built on a Ford Chassis, with a 6.8-Liter Triton V-10 engine, the Daybreak has a 5-Speed TorqShift Automatic transmission with overdrive. Automatic leveling jacks with touchpad controls, side-mounted power patio awning, side cameras, ergonomic dash, and back-up monitor system (includes touch screen in-dash radio-AM/FM/CD/AUX/iPod/MP3/USB) are standard. The Daybreak features a spacious living area with media center, and well-equipped galley. Based on our research the Daybreak series continues to be the company’s best-selling gas motorhome, mainly due to its entry level price.
During model years 2010-2011, Damon features six Class A motorhome products. Brands include the Astoria, Tuscany and Avanti diesel pushers and the gas-powered DayBreak, Challenger and Outlaw models. Among those six products is the 2011 Outlaw, Damon’s Toy-hauler, which features a loft for sleeping two over a garage. Lengths range from 37' 4" to 38' 11".
