In 1964 Coachmen RV Industries was founded by three brothers: Tom, Keith and Claude Corson. Now Coachmen RVisa Division of Forest River Inc. having been purchased by the Warren Buffet Company in December of 2008. The company is headquartered in Middlebury, Indiana the primary manufacturing facilities on nearly 120 acres, with approximately 11 acres under roof serving as a dedicated manufacturing facility for Coachmen branded Class A Motorhomes, Class C Motorhomes, Fifth Wheels, Travel Trailers, and Toy Haulers. Coachmen’s Camping Trailers are manufactured in their Centerville, MI manufacturing facilities. After being purchased by Forest River, Coachmen RV was restructured as a “systems-built” housing company, with a specialty vehicle business.
Coachmen’s website tells us, “The integration of Coachmen RV into Forest River Inc. has provided countless value propositions to Coachmen RV owners, dealers, suppliers and employees. The Coachmen RV brand has been reborn. Our product advantages are significant, our quality is leading, our value is unparalleled and the Coachmen Brand remains one of the most recognized brands throughout the RV Industry!” In a press release Coachmen states, “There are six divisions within the new Coachmen, each headed by a general manager with a dedicated plant, sales team, and each operates under its own profit and loss. There are no vice presidents in our divisions. No layers, only doers.”
