Last year Coach House celebrated their 25th anniversary, recalling their humble start out of a converted warehouse. The Gerzeny Family has been designing, engineering and building motor homes in the Venice, Florida area since 1985, when the first Coach House van conversion rolled out of that converted warehouse. Now located in a 30,000 sq ft state of the art production facility, their decades of manufacturing experience, attention to the smallest details, and “build-it-right, build-it-to last” philosophy, converge in the design and construction of every Coach House Platinum.
Coach House Inc. has carved out a niche in the RV marketplace. Its patented, one-piece solid fiberglass body was the first in the industry and it means no leaks, fewer repairs and a more peaceful driving experience. Steve Gerzeny, Coach House VP tells us, “As far as the integrity of the motor home, it will last a very long time. There are no seams that can fail.” Gerzeny adds, “We use the best of everything inside our motor homes – the best appliances, the best cabinet materials. We choose the best vendors and shave no expense at all. We always try to find the unique and special.” Coach House also makes their own cabinetry and has an upholstery shop where experienced upholsterers make throw pillows, upholstered valances, drapes and bedspreads for their motorhomes.
Coach House states they have been working very hard this past year and it is obvious in the many upgrades the Class C Platinum models offer. A few of the many changes include; a 15,000 BTU ducted roof A/C with Heat Pump providing better cooling and heating capacity, a heavier duty side entrance door that is wider, more secure, quiet and durable, and a redesigned entrance step maximizing entrance width, providing easier access to the HWH Hydraulic pump and making it more resistant to weather conditions. Added to those upgrades, Coach House tells us the interior is improved with new Ford dashboards that are ergonomically designed for better visibility to all storage compartments, radio controls and climate settings. Additionally, they have cleaned up the interior by adding a central control station that houses most of the controls for the holding tank monitor system, HWH Slide-out and Jacks, water pump and generator switch. Storage has been increased on all models by maximizing space under all bunks, in the galleys, and throughout the interior. Hinges are also upgraded for 2012. The new hinges allow you to open the cabinet doors to any position, and they will stay in that position until you close them.
Examples of these upgrades are found in the Coach House Platinum 261XL, available in four floorplans all with room for additional sleeping areas for family or friends. Coach House describes it as including “…features that have never been used before in a Platinum motorhome. For starters, for the first time, we are using a manually operated queen-size hide-a-bed for the main sleeping area. This allows the sheets to be kept on the bed when it is closed. The hide-a-bed is contained in a slide-out that extends a full 32 inches, farther than any previous model.
The trucks of the Platinum coaches are built on a Ford Super-Duty chassis, with a 6.8 liter Triton V-10 engine and automatic 5-speed TorqShift transmission. Power steering, power windows door locks, and mirrors, keyless remote, cruise control, 55-gallon gas tank, air conditioning and a AM/FM CD stereo system round out just some of the features.
Coach House continues to manufacture the Platinum in 5 models and Platinum II in two models, all with several different exterior paint options. Coach House also has the ability to customize the Platinum to fit your personal taste or circumstances.
