Beaver RV Ratings & Reviews by Consumer Group

Navistar is no longer manufacturing the Beaver Motor Coach Line as of their purchase of the Monaco Coach Corporation.

(2009-2010) Navistar will begin operating the newly formed subsidiary Monaco RV LLC, making the International truck and bus manufacturer the latest player in the motorcoach industry. Their $47 million deal completed the transaction of acquiring existing inventory, intellectual property and production facilties located at Monaco’s headquarters in Coburg, Ore., plus in Harrisburg, Ore., Wakarusa, Ind., and Milford, Ind. Navistar now owns the Monaco, Holiday Rambler, Safari, Beaver, McKenzie and R-Vision brands.

The former Monaco Coach Corporation filed for bankruptcy in March 2009 and terminated its remaining workforce as it sought additional financing. Later that month, Navistar signed a non-binding letter of intent to purchase the RV business. A U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware approved the final sale order on May 22, 2009.

There are rating guides for automobiles, appliances and electronics but not for the RV industry, until now.  With thousands of copies sold our RV Comparison Guide is considered the #1 reference guide for RV buyers.

Our guides are not model specific where we purchased individual RV models and take them through a grueling testing period and then make our recommendations. Instead we wanted to rate individual RV manufacturers and put forth a rating based on overall performance in the areas of:

    • Customer Satisfaction
    • Quality of Product
    • Dealer Ratings (RV Dealers fill out a survey form)
    • Resale Price

Company History: Started in a small town in Oregon in the 1970’s, Beaver focused on creating a small line of luxury motor coaches for the customer who wanted to travel in style and comfort. In 2001, the company was acquired by another Oregon-based luxury coach manufacturer, Monaco Coach Corporation. A few years earlier, Monaco expanded into the towable RV market by purchasing Holiday Rambler.

With the purchase of Beaver, Monaco Coach Corporation became a force in the RV Industry. And now a few years into the merger, Beaver is still synonymous with quality, luxury and style. Jim Mac, Marketing Director, says “Beaver has always been known for its outstanding woodwork and it still is. When one thinks of beautiful wood and remarkable craftsmanship, they think of Beaver.”

Beaver Contessa

Mac says Beaver sells strong in the Southwest especially with their most popular vehicle, the Beaver Contessa, which has an average MSRP of $345,000. Beaver’s closest competitors are Country Coach, Newmar, American Coach, and Travel Supreme. Beaver rates high in both customer service and customer satisfaction and continues to improve its product yearly.

Please keep in mind that the main focus behind our guides is to concentrate on RV manufacturers and provide a fair and balance review of each based on OVERALL; customer service, quality of product, dealer ratings and resale value.
