RV Parks at Full Capacity

Many RV communities or RV parks are full this summer and RV park managers are reporting an increase of 25% compared to last year. So what gives? Why the increase in RV travel when the economy is tanking? According to Mr. Eaton best-selling author and RV enthusiast, “the reason RV travel is up this year is because people are staying closer to home but enjoying local destinations compared to taking long extended trips. Those that own an RV are getting out more and visiting multiple spots but staying less”. “My personal opinion is that people are tired of hearing about how bad the economy is; they are fed up with all the politicians in Washington D.C. and are getting out and enjoying this great country of ours”.

Americans are resilient and instead of watching the depressing news every night people are traveling more and spending time with their families. The economy is definitely a problem and RV sales are down by 50% compared to last year. But on the flip side, RV dealers are blowing out their inventories with tremendous deals and RV buyers are taking advantage of the low prices.

RV-ing is best for people who view travel as a way of life or for people who are fascinated with this type of lifestyle. One thing people should know about is that this type of lifestyle is not only for people who can afford to have a luxury RV of their own. There are RV Parks that offer vehicle rentals. Renting a vehicle is a great option for people who do not own one or would like to leave their gas-guzzlers home. The US and Canada probably have the best facilities available. They have RV Parks and resorts, campgrounds for the vehicle, luxury resorts and matching supplies and equipment. This is a lifestyle in which traveling and exploring are integrated into day-to-day life.
Who would have thought that a struggling economy would have resulted in more people traveling this year? Another bright spot according to Mr. Eaton is that consumers are starting to shop again and many feel the worst is behind us. Many RV dealers are reporting an increase in traffic to their dealerships for June. This is an encouraging sign and reports are coming in from other retailers across the country suggesting the same thing. If this is true then I suspect RV sales will start to increase as consumers start shopping again.

People have put off their dream of owning an RV for 12-months but you can only postpone your dream for so long. With sings of the economy slowly improving, the RV industry should start to see an increase in sales for August and hopefully this trend will continue until of October this year before the holiday season is upon us.
