Diesel Motorhomes A Diesel Motorhome is a bus type vehicle and should not be mistaken for a Class C motorhome which has a truck front. Diesel Motorhomes vary in size and can reach lengths of 45ft. Class A Motorhomes are wonderful to travel in because passengers can move about without having to stop at every rest stop. Motorhomes are easier to set up than other RVs. Most have self leveling hydraulic jacks so when you pull into your favorite camping spot all you need to do is push a button and all is leveled.

No boards under the wheels and no unhitching from the tow vehicle. Since most diesel motorhomes come stock with generators and large holding tanks they are more self contained.

Some of the amenities that you will find in diesel motorcoach or diesel pusher as they are called include; private sleeping space, (king size bed) a full size shower or bath, state of the art entertainment and stereo systems, and even the ability to access the internet by satellite anywhere you are on the road. You can upgrade to a full size washer, refrigerator and other appliances as well. Diesel motorhomes are very well equipped and the higher priced ones are luxurious indeed. The price for these units is not for the faint hearted and often cost more than a house.

Traditionally diesel motorhomes cost more than gas motorhomes. They are more powerful and seem to run forever. Diesel motorhomes hold their value better compared to gas and they have more torque to pull your car or boat. In addition to having more torque, diesel engines are more fuel efficient than gas engines. You can expect more miles per gallon, but don't expect a dramatic difference. Diesel Motorhomes have a wider selection of floor plans to choose from compared to gas motorhomes.

The chassis of most diesel motorhomes are better constructed than the chassis of gas motorhomes. The towing capacity is greater and that is this why many fulltime RVs prefer diesel over gas. Diesel powered motorhomes tend to have a smoother ride than gas motorhomes, this is due to the availability of air ride suspensions and the heavier chassis in my opinion.
