RV Reviews, RV Ratings & Important Buying Tips!

If you learned that a particular RV manufacturer has poor customer service or builds below average products would you purchase an RV from that manufacturer? Probably not! The same goes for a specific RV model, nobody wants to spend thousands of dollars on a RV model, only to find out they made a costly mistake which will lead to years of frustration and ultimately become disenchanted with their RV purchase.

There are a number of websites that claim to provide ratings or reviews for RV models and manufacturers but provide no real information besides basic data that can be found with minimal effort. For those wanting more in-depth research with unbiased RV reviews and ratings for both RV manufacturers and models you are at the right place. We go way beyond just providing basic reviews or ratings; we actually interview each factory and collect data from RV dealers and various RV sources. We compile this information into easy to read guides and reports.

About Us: J R Consumer Resources is a consumer group dedicated to helping RV buyers find quality motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels and toy haulers at below retail prices. We have NO Hidden Agendas. We receive NO commissions or advertising kickbacks. We have not accepted any payments to promote one company over another. We have not been hired by the Recreational Vehicle Industry to promote their products or lifestyle. We can assure you that all of the information contained in our RV Comparison Guides and reports is based on independent research, countless interviews and is from an objective point of view.

It is not an accident you have arrived at our website, you are probably doing RV research right? Trying to determine which factories or RV models are best, correct? Take your shoes off and relax, spend a few minutes browsing our site and I am confident you will find what you are looking for!

RV Comparison Guides (Factory Specific)

If you’re considering a newer motorhome, travel trailer, fifth wheel or toy hauler, our new RV Comparison Guide from 2009 to 2012 would be a great choice. It also eliminates confusion and frustration buyers experience when trying to figure out which company they can trust. This information in not available anywhere else and has taken us years to collect.

Many of our readers email us with positive stories and how our RV Guides helped them not only select the right model but how they saved thousands by following our important buying tips. Most people think they are good negotiators but after reading our information you will be amazed in how much more you can save.

Don’t even think about buying an RV until you read this. My wife and I were stunned to learn about all the different manufacturers we have never heard of. The rating charts, company information, construction diagrams were exactly what we needed. Thanks so much! Josh McIntosh, CA.

I was skeptic at first but after reading the RV Comparison Guide by JR Consumer Resources I can honestly say it was worth every penny. RV Ratings Report (Model Specific)

This is a valuable service in which we provide an 8-page report (sent to your email address as a Word Document) for a specific RV model. If you have narrowed your search down to a particular model or two, but are still having a difficult time in choosing one over the other, our RV Ratings Report will help you decide.

Each report is model specific and focuses on the main areas of concern, which are: Overall Quality, Performance, Payload Capabilities, Reliability, Customer Satisfaction & Resale Value? We have an extensive data base which allows us to provide specific reports on model years from 1999 to 2012.

After much research my wife and I settled on two similar RV models. Both meet our needs and wants but we still had a difficult time narrowing it down to just one model. After receiving our RV Reports it helped us decided on the right model for us. A valuable service, thanks J R Consumer!- Max Hatchett, MN.

RV Buying Secrets Revealed

It is a fact that at least 80% of buyers pay too much for their RVs. By following our RV buying tips and suggestions in, “How to Purchase A RV and Save Thousands” you will be able to negotiate huge discounts with your dealer.

Whether you are buying a new or used motorhome, travel trailer or 5th wheel, all prices are negotiable. Remember to bargain up from the wholesale value or dealer’s invoice of the recreational vehicle you are interested in and not down from the asking price.

Our very popular E-book will show you how to determine your RV dealer’s invoice by using our simple formulas. This information is critical and a must read if you plan to get the best deal possible. Important note: This resource is included for FREE if you purchase either RV Comparison Guide featured above.

I saved $5,400 above and beyond what I thought I could negotiate on my recent RV purchase. The E-Book is worth every penny!

FREE Report - Learn How to Spot a Well-Built RV

A common mistake with most new RV buyers is that the floor plan is the most important aspect in their RV purchase. It is estimated that over 90% of new RV buyers focus more on floor plans than anything else.

In contrast, most experienced or educated RV buyers focus on the chassis or frame, drive train, engine, suspension and exterior construction when selecting a particular RV model.

Bottom line - What’s underneath your motorhome, trailer or fifth wheel is the most important aspect and should take top priority in your decision process. Focusing on these important features will ultimately determine how satisfied you are with your purchase.

RV Industry Shows Modest Gains for 2011

Will 2012 Be a Breakout Year?

The less then robust economy has really hampered the RV industry’s ability to make a strong comeback. 2011 shipments from RV factories to dealers were up only about 2% to 3% from last year’s shipped units. A bright spot for the industry was in 2010 when the RV industry showed a 44% gain compared to 2009.

What does 2012 future look like for the RV industry, dealers and consumers? Let’s start with consumers first. We all know 2012 is an election year and typically during an election year the economy is somewhat stagnate.  Most economists are not predicting any major breakout in job growth so unemployment will probably remain in the 8% to 9% range.

The good news is the stock market is making a comeback and many retirees have taken the necessary steps to protect their investments. Most have put off purchasing an RV for a number of years and are now starting to consider buying an RV. Younger buyers are able to secure financing for less expensive RV models with the ease of credit regulations. All in all we at JR Consumer resources are predicting modest gains for 2012 but, certainly not a breakout year as the industry is hoping for.

RV dealers that have survived the last four years are in a stronger position and will be able to capitalize on a growing market share as the economy continues to improve. RV dealer inventories are improving with dealers being able to secure better financing. One trend in the industry is for towable units. Most RV dealers have shuffled their inventories to promote travel trailers, fifth wheels and pop-up tent trailers while scaling back their inventories for expensive Class A motorhomes.

Another popular trend within the industry is for smaller motorhomes. Both Class C and B motorhomes are seeing an increase in sales along with conversion vans. Compared to Class A motorhomes these models are less expensive and provide a certain level of luxury without the big price tag.

Many RV dealers that we have spoken with while research the industry for our New 2012 RV Comparison Guide  have indicated to us that with improved financing options for consumers and more availability with larger inventories they are confident sales will continue to climb as the economy slowly improves.

Employment within the RV industry is also on the rebound, factories that closed during the recession are now re-opening. Other RV companies are re-hiring employees that were laid off during the peak of the recession and increasing their workforce to meet demand. It is estimated that around 325,000 to 400,000 people are employed within the industry an increase of 45% since 2008.

Bottom line is this – 2012 will show modest gains for the RV industry. Consumer confidence is still a little shaky but improved financing options for consumers and larger inventories will attract RV buyers as the industry continues to build and produce innovative products that are more fuel efficient with GREEN technologies and stylish designs.
